Red Fox

Foxes hunt by sound as much as sight — those oversized ears can pick up a mouse tunneling under a foot of snow, and the high arcing pounce you may see is the fox dropping straight onto a target it never actually laid eyes on. They're among the few wild animals that have thrived alongside people, living comfortably in farmland, forest, and city alley alike. Look for them curled in the shade during the middle of the day; foxes are most active at dawn and dusk, so early visitors get the best show.
